A few years ago, “clickers” (classroom response systems) were in high demand. They are great for formative assessment, quizzes, and surveys. However, they were VERY expensive and handing them out and in took valuable teaching time.
Now there are many ways to do the same thing, online, for free! One of my favorite tools, is Kahoot – a game-based response system. Teachers go to getkahoot.com, create a free account, and either select an existing quiz or survey or create a new one. Students can use any device (computer, iOS, Android, phone) to access your quizzes. They go to kahoot.it in any browser, enter the game code, and wait for the teacher to start the quiz (game). Kahoot saves student responses and scores for the teacher. This is a fun, engaging “game” for formative assessment!
